SHORT BIO

In Fall 2006, I joined the Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis as an assistant professor. Before that I was a graduate student at Harvard Applied Mathematics in the Division of Engineering and Applied Sciences. I worked in the Harvard Robotics Lab under the supervision of Navin Khaneja. I am now a joint faculty member of Computational and Systems Biology and Computational and Molecular Biophysics programs in the Division of Biology & Biomedical Sciences (DBBS).

RESEARCH OVERVIEW AND INTERESTS

The focus of our laboratory is on the areas of mathematical control, systems science, and optimization. In particular, we are interested in studying the control systems arising from emerging physical and biological applications. Our interests lead to an interdisciplinary research across boundaries of science and engineering.

       ▪ Ensemble Control

      ▪ Nonlinear Control

      Stochastic Control

Control of Quantum Systems

       ▪ Optimal Control of Spin Dynamics

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy and Imaging (MRI)

Computational Biology and Neuroscience

       ▪ Control of Spiking Neurons

      ▪ Optimization and Adaptive Design of Radiation Therapy
