I joined Washington University in September, 2009.
I received the Ph.D. degree in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2003, under supervision of Professor Patrick Lee of MIT, and Dr. Phil Platzman of Bell Laboratories. I have also spent two years carrying out research at Bell Labs, as a graduate scholar. My graduate research work was mainly on
My post-doctoral research was done in Prof. Shanhui Fan's nano-photonic group. My research in this period shifted towards other new and exciting emerging fields and focused on photon transport in nano-structures, meta-materials, and thermal radiation and energy transfer in small structures.
In the first year of my graduate study, I also translated the book "Was Einstein Right? Putting general relativity to the test" by Prof. Clifford M. Will from English into Chinese.
There are two possible outcomes: If the result confirms the hypothesis, then you've made a measurement. If the result is contrary to the hypothesis, then you've made a discovery.
